It’s been a long time since you last opened your jewelry box and let’s just say, you’re a bit shocked at the state of it.
Your necklaces look like they took some inspiration from your headphones, because the chains are tied up firmly in a huge knot. And you don’t even want to think about your earring collection!
However, since you know that your vast collection isn’t going to sort out itself, it’s up to you to roll up your sleeves and get it done.
The good news? The tips below can help you organize your collection in no time!
A Guide to Organizing Your Jewelry Collection
Start with Some Basic Division
If you’ve got your necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, and more in one box, start by separating everything into its own pile. Get some small boxes and place them in front of your jewelry pile, then start dividing the jewelry. Don’t get distracted. Right now is not the time to search for that one earring you can’t find. Go one step at a time to simplify the method.
Get Appropriate Storage Containers
If you’ve got a small collection of necklaces, separate and lay them down in a small box. To keep the chains from getting tangled, use this hack; slot the chain into a reusable straw then lock it so the chain doesn’t slip.
For earrings, get a thin soft board and stick it in a box, then attach your pairs in lines, with the stoppers at the back to keep them in place.
For rings, use decorative gift boxes and buy a bunch of them for each color (silver, gold, bronze and rose gold).
Place Similar Styles in One Place
If that feathered pair of earrings and those large medallion necklaces don’t fit in one box, separate them from the rest and give them their own containers. Large statement jewelry or delicate jewelry should be kept away from other pieces, out of necessity.
Throw Away the Odd Ones
The chances are that you’ll find a whole bunch of jewelry that won’t suit your taste anymore. Some will have missing stones, others might be tarnished. With such pieces, it’s better to just throw or give them away.
Of course, if you’re keeping the piece for sentimental reasons, that’s fine. But for the rest, it’s best to get rid of them now while you’re organizing your collection. Otherwise, you’ll forget about them, and they’ll just make their way back.
Got the Gist?
Even with a large collection, it’s quite easy to manage your jewelry once you get used to the process. So follow the tips above, order some jewelry boxes from Jamagrasha and get yourself organized. You might find some new favorite pieces that you didn’t even know you had!
